The UK has a long-established swinging scene, with lifestyle clubs and events in most major cities and plenty of countryside venues too. If you've never been to one, here's how they work.

Types of UK swingers venue

  • Dedicated swingers clubs — permanent venues with a bar, social areas, play rooms and often a pool, sauna or hot tub. Usually open several nights a week.
  • Club nights at regular venues — lifestyle organisers hire a bar or nightclub for a themed night.
  • Hotel takeovers — an organiser books out a hotel for a weekend of parties.
  • House parties — private, invitation-only events hosted by experienced swingers.
  • Socials and meets — relaxed drinks in an ordinary bar, ideal for beginners. No play involved.

How entry usually works

Most clubs require membership — often free or a small fee — and photo ID on the door. Entry prices typically differ for couples, single women and single men, and many clubs run couples-only nights, single-friendly nights and themed events. Always check the venue's website before you go.

What happens inside?

A typical night starts in the bar and social areas: chatting, dancing and getting to know people. Later, those who want to play move to the play areas, which might include open rooms, private rooms with lockable doors, and voyeur areas where you can watch. Nobody is obliged to do anything. Plenty of guests just socialise.

Dress codes

Smart-casual to sexy is standard. Many UK clubs have themed nights (fetish, masquerade, lingerie, white party) and a changing area where you can switch into something more revealing once inside. Trainers and sportswear are often not allowed.

How to choose your first club

  • Browse our UK swingers clubs directory, which lists independently checked venues by region with facilities, drinks policy and who each club welcomes.
  • Read recent reviews from other swingers.
  • Look for newcomer or social nights with tours for first-timers.
  • Pick a convenient location so you can leave easily.
  • Ask the community. On Pineapple, you can find lifestyle events by distance and chat with members who've been before.
